Learning Resources

Educational materials are available to support learning before, during, and after the visit. These resources help students reflect on the events of D-Day and beyond, and the importance of remembrance

Risk Assessment

Teachers and group leaders are responsible for completing their own risk assessment prior to visiting. We have put together some simple guidance which you may find useful

Accessibility

The Memorial site has been designed with accessibility in mind, with pathways that allow visitors to move around the site comfortably. Please note there is a 12 – 15 minute walk from the car park to the Memorial. If your group has specific access requirements, please contact the Education Co-ordinator.

Lunch Arrangements

Packed lunches can be ordered at the point of booking or by contacting the Education Co-ordinator

Practical Information

Coach parking is available on site (Where parking is not included in your booking, please pay at the meters onsite or via the Pay By Phone  or Easy Park apps on your smartphone. ). Groups should report to the Winston Churchill Centre on arrival, where our Education Co-ordinator will welcome you and provide guidance for the visit.

Group Sizes

To ensure students can fully enjoy the learning experience, numbers are limited for certain activities. Some sessions have a maximum capacity of 20 students, so classes of 40 or 60 will be divided into smaller sub-groups. Larger parties may need to allow additional time to cover all elements of the visit. The programme arrangements and how the visit will work will be fully explained by the Education Co-ordinator when planning your visit.

Secure Storage

There are no cloakroom or storage facilities on site, so visitors are encouraged to bring only essential items. Bags should be kept with the group at all times during the visit or left on the coach. All personal belongings and valuables remain the responsibility of their owner throughout the duration of the visit.

Facilities

Public conveniences are open typically from 9am to 7pm every day of the year except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The British Normandy Memorial has a free app that visitors can download before their visit which includes access to the Stories of the Fallen and the Find A Name feature. Available on iOS and Android.
