YOUTH AMBASSADOR
The Youth Ambassador Programme connects young people directly with the legacy of D-Day and the Normandy Campaign.
As the generation who served passes the baton to younger generations, the programme ensures that remembrance remains active, visible and relevant — led by young people themselves.
Open to those aged 9–18, Youth Ambassadors represent the Memorial within their schools and communities and take part in projects that help preserve and share the stories of 1944.
AIMS AND IMPACT
The Youth Ambassador Programme is designed to:
Encourage young people to take ownership of remembrance
Develop confidence, leadership and communication skills
Foster intergenerational and international understanding
Support historical enquiry through direct engagement
Youth Ambassadors may:
Interview veterans or those connected to the Normandy Campaign
Lead remembrance projects within their schools
Represent the Memorial at commemorative events
Contribute to digital storytelling and education initiatives
Help research and share the stories behind the names on the Memorial
By moving beyond classroom learning, the programme empowers young people to become active custodians of memory.
