BECOME A GUARDIAN
The British Normandy Memorial exists not only to remember the 22,541 men and women who died during D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, but to ensure their stories continue to educate and inspire future generations.
Through our School Guardian programme, schools can make a meaningful commitment to remembrance.
We invite schools to consider an annual donation of £150 or more. This supports:
- The long-term care of the Memorial
- The continued development of the Winston Churchill Centre for Education
- Ongoing research through the Roll of Honour
- Opportunities for young people to engage directly with the legacy of 1944
Schools may choose to link their commitment to a specific individual named on the Memorial — perhaps someone from their local area or with a meaningful connection to the school community.
Many schools fund their Guardian commitment through student-led fundraising activities, assemblies or remembrance projects — turning giving into further learning.
In recognition, your school will:
- Be acknowledged as a School Guardian
- Receive a digital certificate
- Join a network of schools committed to keeping memory alive
Becoming a School Guardian allows pupils not only to learn about history — but to help safeguard it.
